FINAL PITCHING DAY: NATIONAL CODE CHALLENGE
Monday 15/08/2016
The National Code Challenge (NCC) is a finale for the participants of the Coding@Schools 2016 program and will be the first ever national level challenge open to primary school students. It is also open to Form 1-3 students from secondary schools to compete in the Open Category. The NCC will provide students an opportunity to compete and test their coding skills at a national level and provide an enriching and stimulating environment for students to challenge themselves, learn and apply their coding knowledge to solve a specific practical problem.
The NCC held between 14-16 August 2016 will see approximately 125 students from 25 teams from 19 schools working together to refine their winning ideas and apps from the Coding@Schools post-camp activities. There will also be 10 teams from secondary schools competing in the Open Category. They will all showcase and pitch their winning ideas and showcase their app prototypes at the final pitching day of the NCC.
The NCC was held during the International Conference on Blue Ocean Strategy (ICBOS)/National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) Day on 14-20 August 2016 at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC).
The Coding@Schools (C@S) program is aimed at introducing and sensitising school children between the ages of 10 to 12 into the world of computing and programming to encourage them to become creators and contributors to the Internet rather than mere consumers. In 2016, the program will reach 3,000 primary school students from 100 schools nationwide.
The C@S program is structured on the 3 pillars of Code, Create and Celebrate culminating in the National Code Challenge (NCC). In the Code pillar participants are immersed in the basics of programming via a series of Immersion Camps. In the Create pillar, the participants are encouraged to continue their learning through online platforms and collaborate with their friends to build on their skills and participate in the competitions to qualify for the NCC.
Success is Celebrated at the twice yearly NCC.
