According to the World Health Organization’s Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) Country Profiles report released in September last year, NCDs are the leading cause of deaths globally, accounting for over 71% of the world’s 57 Million deaths in 2016.
Diseases categorised as NCDs include cardiovascular diseases, chronic respiratory diseases, cancers and diabetes, and are largely attributed to four major risks – the harmful use of alcohol and tobacco, dietary behavior and physical inactivity.
