USIM AND IIUM TO JOIN FORCES - PLEDGING FOR A MORE SUSTAINABLE FUTURE, WITH U.S. EMBASSY

EcoKnights, supported by U.S. Embassy Kuala Lumpur, is set to launch the University Civic Engagement Club (UCEC) program, in partnership with University Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) and International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) this Friday, April 23rd.
Members of the media are cordially invited to the UCEC launching ceremony at Taman Eko Rimba Kuala Lumpur (Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve).
The ceremony will be attended by the following Guests of Honour:
1. His Excellency Brian D. McFeeters, U.S. Ambassador to Malaysia
2. Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Abdul Razak, Rector of Universiti Islam Antarabangsa
3. Professor Dato' Dr. Mohamed Ridza bin Wahiddin, Vice-Chancellor Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia.
4. Mohd. Hafiz bin Hamzah, Director of Forestry WP Kuala Lumpur.
5. Dr Yasmin Rasyid, Founder and President of EcoKnights.

● Speech by USIM’s representative, Professor Dato' Dr. Mohamed Ridza bin Wahiddin
● Speech by IIUM’s representative, Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Abdul Razak

8:30 am : Officiating Ceremony
● Signing of tree-planting plaque by Guests of Honor
● UCEC website launch with pledge-making by Guests of Honor

UCEC is a year-long youth empowerment program focused on promoting social and environmental action. The initiative aspires to empower the next generation of youth to lead efforts in environmental sustainability, conservation, and climate action. University leaders will be equipped with the knowledge and skills set to kickstart social and environmental movements through various impact-driven activities and capacity-building programs.
