NEW MPIC MINISTER TO VISIT MTC'S VACCINATION CENTRE

The newly appointed Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities YB Datuk Hajah Zuraida Kamaruddin will be visiting the Malaysian Timber Council's (MTC) vaccination centre in Olak Lempit, Banting, on 4 September 2021 at 10.00am. Accompanying the Minister on her visit will be Deputy Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities Dato' Sri Dr Wee Jeck Seng.
MTC will be briefing the Minister on the success of its vaccination programme under the Vaccination Programme for the Agricommodity Sector or VACOMS which began on 28 July 2021.
In a move to help curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in factories, MTC initiated the industry vaccination centre (PPVIN) to vaccinate about 10,000 employees from over 160 companies from the furniture as well as other timber-based sectors.
MTC provided a subsidy of RM30 per vaccine for each employee while the remaining RM40 was borne by the respective companies. The programme was conducted with the cooperation of the Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB) and has successfully vaccinated 10,005 employees.
VACOMS ends on 6 September 2021.
