THE NATIONAL PRESS CLUB OF MALAYSIA INVITES ALL MEDIA PRACTITIONERS AND INDUSTRY PLAYERS TO PARTICIPATE IN NPC'S POST-HAWANA CONFERENCE THEMED 'MALAYSIA'S QUEST FOR A FREE & SUSTAINABLE MEDIA LANDSCAPE', KKD DEPUTY MINISTER TO DELIVER KEYNOTE ADDRRESS
Thursday 26/10/2023
The Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has challenged all Malaysians to move the Malaysian economy into the list of the top 30 largest in the world in less than 10 years. Malaysia’s media ecosystem will play a critical role in any attempt to elevate the country’s economy which can only be made possible through effective communication, public diplomacy and improving the perception of Malaysia as an investment destination. A free and sustainable media landscape will allow the media to play this role in a more impactful way.
The National Press Club of Malaysia (NPC), with support from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), will be organising a full-day conference, which will be by invitation only, to understand how the media can amplify its competitive advantages in that context while addressing the strategic gaps that will allow us to move forward sustainably in a timely manner. This conference is also organised as a follow-up of discussions that took place at the HAWANA 2023 Media Forum in Ipoh, Perak on 28 May.
Leading voices will be speaking at the conference over two sessions titled:
- Regulatory Framework and the Future of Sustainable Journalism
- Freedom of Information – The Right to Know Malaysia
The opening session include a keynote address by the Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital, YB Teo Nie Ching.
Details of the conference are as follows:
Theme : ‘Malaysia's Quest for a Free and Sustainable Media Landscape’
Day/Date : Friday 27 October 2023
Time : 9.00 am to 5.00 pm
Venue : Auditorium, MCMC Centre of Excellence, Cyberjaya
**This event is by invitation only and as such requires your RSVP. If you are unable to attend personally, we welcome a representative from your organisation.
With this programme being a part of NPC's broader international engagement and the domestic empowerment of the media, we believe that your participation will make a lasting impression amongst media practitioners, industry players and thought leaders at the event.
You are cordially invited to send a reporter and photographer/cameraman to cover the event.
