KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 (Bernama) -- Runners, set yourself to support autism awareness as the Danajamin Mighty Run returns! Last year, the charity run had 700 runners comprising of Danajamin Nasional Berhad’s (Danajamin) staff, family members, clients, business partners and members of the public and successfully collected RM 30,225 for The National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM). The fund was used by NASOM to upgrade its Vocational Centre in Bandar Puteri, Kelang. This year, Danajamin hopes to get more runners to join in the fun while also doing their part in contributing to the same worthy cause. The run will be held at Centrus, Cyberjaya on the 28^th of August 2017. 

According to Mohamed Nazri Omar, Chief Executive Officer of Danajamin, “Not many people understand the challenges faced by those who are directly and indirectly affected with autism, be it the parents or the child themselves, as they sometimes struggle to have access to resources and assistance. As the organizer for second year running and supporter of autism awareness and the National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM) for the last 4 years, we are enthusiastic to again be championing a worthy cause and place Danajamin Mighty Run in the Malaysian running calendar.  We believe that with increased awareness, more people will learn about autism, understand it better and provides assistance in facilitating early intervention programmes.”

The registration period for Danajamin Mighty Run opens from 14^th July – 21^st August 2017. There are two categories for the run namely the 5km fun run and 10km competitive run. This year, participants stand a chance to win RM10,000 in cash and lucky draw prizes. Registration in groups is also encouraged whereby groups of 10 will receive 5% discount and groups of 20 and above will receive 10% discount of the registration fee. Registration will be closed upon reaching 1,000 participants.

Former SEA Games champion, Jeffrey Ong and Farah Begum will do the honour to flag-off the 5km Fun Run and 10km Competitive Run respectively.
