  WORLD TOURISM DAY (WTD) IS BACK WITH THE THEME "SUSTAINABLE TOURISM - A TOOL FOR DEVELOPMENT"

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 20 (Bernama) -- Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC) will host the World Tourism Day (WTD) 2017 celebration once again at the Malaysia Tourism Center (MaTiC) from 26 - 27 September, 2017. 
 
Under the theme SUSTAINABLE TOURISM – A TOOL FOR DEVELOPMENT”, WTD 2017 aims to create awareness about World Tourism Day among the local and international community of the importance of tourism and its inclusive and sustainable economic growth; social inclusiveness, employment and poverty reduction; resource efficiency, environmental protection and climate change; cultural values, diversity and heritage; and mutual understanding, peace and security.
 
The highlight of this celebration is the WTD 2017 Cycling Night Ride, organized in conjunction with the WTD 2017. This event will be held at  Putrajaya and  will take place at 9.00 pm, September 23, 2017 (Saturday).
 
WTD 2017 Cycling Night Ride are expecting the involvement of 150 participants, of which 40 participants are from MOTAC Citizens, 30 participants are from media practitioners, 20 participants are from lecturers and students, 10 participants are from MATTA and 50 participants from Perbadanan Putrajaya (PPJ).
 
Strategic Partners for WTD 2017 Cycling Night Ride are  Putrajaya Corporation (PPJ), Marina Putrajaya Sdn. Bhd., MOTAC Selangor, Tourism Malaysia Corporate Communications Division and Red Aventure.
 
WTD 2017 is expected to be accompanied by 500 participants. This celebration will be delighted with the mini exhibition activities involving Taylor's University, Limkokwing University, Putrajaya Corporation, MATTA, Exhibition and promotion of homestay packages by FELDA, Photography and Nature Arts by NEst, Birding Tourism by BirdGroup Taman Negara, Cherating Eco- Trail by Legend Cherating Beach Resort.
 
WTD 2017 also will be hosted a discussion forum at the Malaysian Tourism Center (MaTiC) on September 27, 2017, at 11.00am with “Sustainable Tourism - A Tool For Development “ theme by invited panel from Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH), Malaysian Association of Tours & Travel Agents (MATTA), Tourism Malaysia and will feature the former MOTAC's Secretary General, YBhg. Tan Sri Dr. Ong Hong Peng as Moderator.
 
All are invited to enliven the WTD 2017.
