LIAM also collaborates with Institute Jantung Negara and UKM Specialist Centre to launch Health Awareness Campaign to promote healthy lifestyle among Malaysians 

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 20 (Bernama) --  The Life Insurance Association of Malaysia and its 16 member companies in collaboration with Pusat Darah Negara (PDN), the National Association of Malaysian Life Insurance And Family Takaful Advisors (NAMLIFA), Institute Jantung Negara (IJN) and UKM Specialist Centre has launched the Health Awareness and Nationwide Blood Donation Campaign to promote a healthy lifestyle among Malaysians on 18 September 2017.

Aimed at bringing the industry closer to the rakyat from all walks of life, the campaign, scheduled from 18 September to 29 September 2017 was launched by the Assistant Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia, En Abu Hassan Alshari Yahaya who is also the Board Member of the Financial Industry Collective Impact Initiative (FINCO) at the Concourse Area of Medan MARA, Jalan Raja Laut, Kuala Lumpur.

According to the President of LIAM, Mr Toi See Jong, in conjunction with this year’s blood donation campaign, the industry took the initiative to collaborate with IJN and UKM Specialist Centre to generate greater awareness among the people on the importance of regular health screenings to keep track of their health condition and to educate them on health issues through the health talks conducted by specialists from both institutions.  

“With one common objective in mind and in the true spirit of caring, sharing and giving, we are working together with our partners to encourage people from all walks of life to donate blood and at the same time keep track of their health condition.  We hope the public will benefit from this campaign and take this opportunity to do their health screening while donating blood for the needy”, Toi reiterated. 

The blood donation campaign at the 52 donation centres covers five regions namely Central, Northern, Southern, East Coast and East Malaysia.
 
For the central region, LIAM has setup a donation centre at the Concourse Area of Medan MARA Kuala Lumpur from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm from Monday, 18 September until Thursday, 21 September 2017. During this period, other than the blood donation activities, complimentary health screenings, BMI tests, health talks and a quit-smoking clinic will also be organised for the general public.

The nationwide blood donation campaign is an annual community project under the Insurans Hayat Cares community service platform to help raise awareness on the importance of donating blood to those in need and at the same time help increase the stock level of blood at PDN.
 
Caring for the community and insuring the nation would be our ultimate accomplishment as Malaysia moves into a high income nation by the year 2020. Over the last 40 years, apart from being a leading insurance association in the country, LIAM also plays its part in giving back to the community via a myriad of activities ranging from blood donation, contributions to orphanages, old folks’ homes, paediatric wards and outward bound activities for teenagers.
