  RIUH, A CREATIVE PLATFORM

Thursday 19/10/2017

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 19 (Bernama) -- RIUH which kicked off on 19th & 20th August 2017 returns to celebrate the Deepavali weekend at APW, Jalan Riong Bangsar. RIUH is a creative platform that hosts a curation of eclectic homegrown brands, local and international flavours to feast on, creative workshops, showcases and live performances and it is open to public.

Taking cues from Covent Garden in London, Finders Keepers in Australia, Knack Market in Bangkok, Brightspot Market and Indoestri in Indonesia and Public Garden in Singapore, RIUH aims to put Kuala Lumpur on the creative map – timely, to further enhance the creative industry in Malaysia.

It provides a platform for the local creative industry to showcase their products and flaunt their talent as well as for the community and visitors to KL to discover a spectrum of creative offerings. RIUH also hosts workshops and activities for the kids – as the Malay proverb goes - melentur buluh biarlah dari rebungnya (start cultivating good values at an early age).

In October, visitors would expect a variety of pop-up stores from fashion brands for men, women and kids, homeware and artisanal produce to dishes and snacks that would curb the hunger pangs. As part of the many special offerings under RIUH, visitors will be entertained by the tunes performed by musicians Matthew and Brendan De Cruz, contemporary covers duo Nickyta & Co and Nadir Music, a cultural-fusion brand. In the spirit of Deepavali, RIUH celebrates the festival of lights through traditional and modern performances by ASWARA, Malaysian Bhangra Group and Malaysian Punjab Entourage. Additionally, RIUH collaborates with SareeOnMovement, a social initiative to encourage people to freely express their individuality through the endless possibility of the saree for a special exhibition on sarees as well as providing one-to-one sessions on how to tie the saree!

Kids and adults will be able to get the creative hats on at the workshops conducted at RIUH -Food Art by The Rojak Projek, Photography Talk & Workshop by TTFGA and Art and Science Workshop for Kids by Atom & the Dot.

Inseparable are Malaysians and good food! Catering to food lovers all around, RIUH will host various cuisines ranging from Biryani to Mee Jawa. Additionally, visitors will also able to feast on international flavours of Mexico as well as indulge in locally made cheese.

RIUH is set to be at APW for every month this year. Next up is on 11th and 12th November 2017.
