BANGKOK, May 10 (Bernama) -- Joint Chairman of Triterra Group of Companies, Dato Wira Lim Teong Kiat is the first Malaysian to be appointed the Honorary Life Vice President, the highest honorary position for the Badminton World Federation (BWF). The appointment was endorsed with unanimous support from the delegates at the BWF Annual General Meeting on 7 May 2022, held in Bangkok, Thailand.

The confirmation of the appointment has earned Dato Wira Lim a standing ovation at the conference. Dato Wira Lim has been involved in badminton for 40 years. He was the Vice President from 1982 to 2008, Honorary Treasurer from 2006 to 2017 and Deputy President from 2017-2021 of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM). In addition, he was also the Team Manager of the National Badminton Team for The Beijing Olympic Games in 2008.

His contribution to the game is not only confine to Malaysia but on a global level, serving as the Chair of Finance, Executive Committee and Council Member of BWF from 2009-2021.
